Gig Alert – Lovejoy’s Going to Summer Camp?!
The excitement continues in Lovejoy land! Milwaukee, Wisconsin radio station FM102.1 recently announced that Lovejoy is playing an ultra-intimate private acoustic show as part of the FM1021 Summer Camp series. The Lovejoy gig takes place on Thursday, July 3, just hours before the boys take to the stage as headliners at the Summerfest music festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Touted as the world’s largest music festival, Summerfest spans three different weekends in late June and early July and features over 600 artists.
The FM102.1 Summer Camp series is a cornerstone event in Wisconsin’s alternative music scene. The acoustic performance series takes place over the three weekends of Summerfest and includes a handful of top artists who each play their own separate show at small local venues for about 100 people. Entry can only be obtained by winning passes via the radio station.
Since 2019, Summer Camp has featured artists such as Yungblud, Noah Kahan, Neon Trees, Bleachers, Vance Joy, Declan McKenna, Third Eye Blind, and, of course, now our very own Lovejoy!

In addition, DJ and VP of Programming & Operations Michelle Rutkowski attended one of the band’s very first U.S. shows in November 2022, commenting “So good. Earnest British boys with catchy, bouncy songs. I did a lot of awkward bopping at this show. No, like, A LOT.”

What’s up? I’m stoked to hang out with you each month as a part of this podcast!
I’ve been active in the Lovejoy online community since fall of 2022. I joined in order to get the latest touring dates and music drops, and discovered a desire to “pay it forward” by providing a positive, reassuring influence in a young fanbase. Hopefully I’ve been successful! I’ve been fortunate enough to find my fellow “elder” Lovenjoyers and forge lifelong friendships as a result.
In September of 2024, I took the reins of the Lovejoy Wiki Fandom site (shameless plug: link below, check it out). This repository of Lovejoy information had been collecting dust for a year, so I’m grateful for the opportunity to give it a major makeover. Wikis, by nature, are a community effort, and there’s still so much to do, so please reach out if you want to help – I’d love to have you on the team!
Planning creative ways to reach and connect with people is one of my jams. In a previous (and somewhat more professional) era of my life, I wrote and edited a quarterly, nationwide publication related to the dairy industry. (This is probably where I tell you that I live in the Land of Cheese, aka Wisconsin - I am thankful that Lovejoy seems to like nearby Milwaukee.)
Lately, I’m busy with stuff like chauffeuring my 13-year-old to bass guitar and karate lessons, preparing for my 18-year-old’s graduation, planning the occasional family vacation, and all the other details that come with trying to keep our family of four semi-organized.
